چکیده

Organic matter management can improve soil structural properties. This is crucial for agricultural soils in tropical regions threatened by high rainfall intensities. Compared to conventional farming, organic farming usually deemed increase carbon and properties such as stability permeability. However, how much, if any, buildup of possible or indeed occurring also depends on type environmental factors. We compared the impact seven years (annually 13.6 t ha?1 composted manure) with that practices (2 farmyard manure 150–170 kg N mineral fertilizers) The study was conducted a Vertisol India two-year crop rotation cotton soybean wheat. Despite large differences amendment application, not significantly different at 9.6 mg C g?1 average topsoil. size distribution water-stable aggregates shifted toward more <137 ?m systems. Cumulative water intake lower systems, leading higher runoff erosion. These changes might be related pH exchangeable sodium Our results indicate application amendments did lead associated improvement structures integrated fertilization this study. Chemical may dominate aggregation retarding uptake integration sustainable intensification tropical, semiarid climates.

Responses of soil properties and crop yields to different inorganic and organic amendments in a Swiss conventional farming system

In agro-ecosystems, fertilization practices are crucial for sustaining crop productivity. Here, based on a 50-year long-term experiment, we studied the influence of fertilization practices (inorganic and/or organic) and nitrogen (N) application rates on (i) soil physicochemical properties, (ii) microbial and earthworm communities and (iii) crop production. Our results showed that soil organic c...

Aggregate and soil organic carbon dynamics in South Chilean Andisols

Extreme sensitivity of soil organic carbon (SOC) to climate and land use change warrants further research in different terrestrial ecosystems. The aim of this study was to investigate the link between aggregate and SOC dynamics in a chronosequence of three different land uses of a south Chilean Andisol: a second growth Nothofagus obliqua forest (SGFOR), a grassland (GRASS) and a Pinus radiata p...
